New to this lingo, please help, and thankx in advance. Funny thing is, I actually can download the windows exe's and plug and play.

Short story long, what do I have to do to get Hydrogen, Lmms, & Audasity up and running on this system? I always figured I could just download and install those, as they are after all Linux apps. I can't seem to figure out the right hydrogen, and LMMS to download, because my brother said something about 'dependencies', knowing what they were, and downloading them.
First, I finally got easytether to install (doesn't work, but I installed it ) I have LMMS, Hydrogen, and Audasity on my Windows 7 laptop, and rosegarden, jack, ect on my live cd's. I was told over the Linux musician forum that Lubuntu was a good lightweight os for music production.

(My brother has always did whatever I needed, and I want to do this on my own as much as possible) I've always had a linux live cd/dvd (Dynobolic, Knoppix, Musix, etc), but I have never set up and run my own system.
During installation PdaNet will add an ethernet interface ('en2' in most cases) to your network list.
After rebooting you should see the PdaNet icon on the menu bar. My brother is a computer programmer Caterpillar, and built his computer, and os via Linux from scratch. At the end of the installation you will be asked to reboot your Mac. I'm really not new to Linux, but I'm new to actually getting my hands in there and doing stuff. I just thought it was funny that I saw a thread that said, "Can I really replace WINDOWS with Linux?" There are on average about two to twelve/fifteen replies to these threads.
